Customizing Your Ice Hockey Sticks
One of the ways you can improve your ice hockey game is when you have the best kind of equipment to use for it. One of the things that you can do to help improve your game is to customize your hockey stick and this means you will need to alter your hockey stick to suit your person and your playing style.
Customizing your ice hockey sticks is not as difficult as you may think it is. For starters, you will need to first adjust the length of your hockey stick so that it will be comfortable for you to use. To check your stick for the right height, stand your stick in front of you and see where the end of the stick ends. If it ends at the level of your nose while you are in your sneakers or if it ends at your chin’s level when you are wearing your skates, then you have the right height for your hockey stick. If it is too long, cut off the excess length with the use of a fine toothed saw and sand off the end to remove splinters and burrs that remain.
You will then need to check the curve of the blades of your ice hockey sticks. Remember, a big curve in the stick can afford you a lot of movement for your shot but sometimes the accuracy of your shot will suffer. You can change the curve of your hockey stick by gently heating up the blade with a portable blow torch and slowly bending it to the desired curve you want. Try to be careful with this step since having an excessively curved hockey stick can be seen as illegal and you won’t be able to use your hockey stick after you have customized it. You should also take care when heating your hockey stick blade so that you won’t leave any unsightly scorch marks on it.
