Different Kinds Of Street Hockey Sticks
Avid hockey fans and players who do not have ice skating rinks or other areas to play ice hockey in often end up playing what is called street hockey. This sport is somewhat similar to ice hockey without the body checks and offsides that come with the winter sport. The equipment used is also similar to that of ice hockey and in fact, a lot of the street hockey sticks that street hockey players use are actually ice hockey sticks. There are some street hockey players that use the cheaper plastic blades that are sometimes sold in sports shops and attach these to the more expensive shafts that are used by ice hockey players. Others choose to use the real deal though despite the wearing out that these will suffer on the asphalt and cement that street hockey is played on.
Some of the more popular ice hockey sticks that can be used as street hockey sticks are the composite sticks that are made with tough yet lightweight materials. The materials usually used in composite hockey sticks include fiberglass, aluminum, graphite, titanium and carbon. Some hockey sticks also use Kevlar, and like titanium, it is often considered one of the lightest and most durable materials to be used for composite hockey sticks. The hockey sticks that are produced using these two are however the most expensive of the group.
For street hockey players, the more durable the hockey stick, the longer it will last them. This would however mean that they will need to shell out some serious cash to get themselves some of the better yet tougher hockey sticks in the market. If you are a beginner when it comes to street hockey, it may be best for you to get yourself a composite shaft and plastic blade or a cheaper wood hockey stick for the meantime and get yourself a top-of-the-line stick once you have improved your game and plan to continue playing.
